During a medical encounter between a Spanish-speaking patient and an English-speaking provider, their differences extend beyond language. They also have distinct cultures, values, beliefs, healthcare literacy, educational backgrounds, and many other factors that influence the interaction.
As interpreters, our role is both to convey messages and, if necessary, act as a cultural broker. Therefore, understanding the cultural differences between the Latino patient and the Anglo provider is critical for us to effectively mediate during an encounter.
During this 2-hour *recorded* webinar you will become familiar with basic concepts and terminology about Latino culture and how it influences a medical encounter.
This class is presented in Spanish with examples in English and Spanish.
