During a medical encounter, the differences between a Spanish-speaking Latino patient and an English-speaking provider go beyond language. They also have distinct cultures, values, beliefs, levels of health literacy, educational backgrounds, and other factors that shape their interaction.
After this webinar, participants will gain a deeper understanding of Latino patients and Anglo providers’ cultural characteristics and insights into their values, health beliefs, and biomedical perspectives that will enable them to effectively act as cultural brokers and mediate more successfully during interpreted medical encounters.
The class is taught in Spanish, with English terminology.
English/Spanish translators and interpreters of all levels are welcome.
