I was born and raised in Lima, Peru, where I completed my medical studies (physician-surgeon) and worked in general practice. This gave me hands-on experience with patients and a deep understanding of a non-patient-centered healthcare system.
After moving to the U.S., I pursued my passion for language and cross-cultural communication. I earned a Professional Certificate in Translation and Interpreting from UCSD Extension and later became a Certified Medical Interpreter (CMI, CHI) and a California Certified Court Interpreter.
My teaching journey began at UCSD Extension and has taken me to UNIFE in Peru and the Universidad Internacional Menendez Pelayo in Spain for Dr. Fernando Navarro’s Summer Course. Since 2013, I’ve been a faculty member at the University of Arizona’s National Center for Interpretation, specializing in the medical-legal field.
Since 2010, I’ve run Blue Urpi, a platform where I share my passion for medicine, language, and cultural competency.

Here are some of the conferences, in the US and abroad, where I have had the honor to shared my passion for translation, interpreting, medicine, language, and culture.
Our name comes from two meaningful words: Blue and Urpi.
Urpi (pronounced oor-peeh) comes from Quechua, an indigenous language of Peru. It means pigeon, a bird that has carried important messages with care for centuries.
I picked the color blue because it reminded me of the amazing blue sky of Cusco that always gives me a sense of peace and calm.
These two words embody our mission: to deliver our clients’ messages with clarity and timeliness, in a calm and relaxed manner.
